"Over The Horizon & Earth" ~ Writers Island
When I was in my early twenties...
I had the opportunity
to fly to Europe on a private jet.
During the flight
the pilots invited me
to come and sit in the cockpit...
Even though I had flown many times before,
it was the first time I saw the Earth's horizon,
the rounded curvature of the Earth...
In that moment,
my world expanded
and what had not been possible to fathom before,
was there stretched out before me
in a beautiful arch and I was awed...
It reminds me of my desire for this New Year...
that my world,
this new horizon,
become bigger
and at the same time,
more simple...
Earth...
This ground,
this earth
holds me
like a mother
deep within her arms…
Like a father’s shoulders,
a mountain kissing
the sky…
This ground,
this earth,
holds me like a lover,
taking me places
I’ve never been
where the soft round curves
of my body
nestle into gravity
pulling me to the center of my heart
where I fall into myself
finding all things that matter
beneath my hands and feet
as my body melts into
divine motion,
a stillness profound,
a breathing
in and out
of being…
This ground,
this earth
is this moment of remembering…

Earth Poem inspired by my Soul Motion dance practice

nestled - here in your warm words - holding my softness in your gentleness - looking out into the unknown knowing that we are both held sweetly and in trust...

I couldn't say it any better than those who got here before me: beautiful images and words Lea.

I would love to fly in a private jet! What a site that must have been to be on top of the world and see the curvature of the earth! how beautiful!

We are all connected through Ariadne's thread.
Over the ocean, the new world and the old Europe.
Walking on mother earth through the labyrinthine paths.

I am very much in tune with you "bigger but more simple" philosophy.
Your words always take my breath away.
I, too, have had the glorious opportunity to fly in a private jet sitting in the cockpit.
At twilight, as you fly east and you are still in daylight, as you fly towards the darkness, when the light and dark meet, it will be night for you.....I hope that makes sense. It's amazing.

*a private jet*
get out!
:-)
my favorite bit
of imagery:
~~nestle into gravity~~
[[in my classroom,
that phrase
alone
would have gotten you the A+;
in my heart
that phrase
alone
gets you an understanding smile
and a nod of ahhhh,
yes...]]

Nicely done, Lea. The earth and what's on it - that's all we have. And the photos are great!

I have gone through the feeling you described in your lines below, when I was in Grand Canyon, Niagara, etc. It puts our life in perspective, doesn't it?
and what had not been possible to fathom before,
was there stretched out before me
in a beautiful arch and I was awed...

Wonderful... and did you really get to sit in the cockpit.. wow do I envy you!! My son at 2 once got invited.. but fell asleep so never made it to the cockpit.. but as we were getting off.. we were allowed a peek in compensation.. and you sat there during flight.. that must have been some experience!!! Thanks for sharing it

Very nice Lea. Happy New Year 08 to you, we all hope for bigger, better and simpler. The last one is the easiest, as simplicity comes from within, you can make it as simple or as complicated as you want it to be...may all your dreams come true this year.
