Spring Equinox 2011

The night
of the Full Moon of March
and Spring Equinox eve
was full of fierce wind and storm
and torrential rains...

But the morning rain
opened into an afternoon
of sunshine,
calm, and a beauty unimagined
as people
came together to walk the labyrinth...

for this change
of season
and to offer prayers
and healing for the people of Japan
and all affected by the quakes and tsunami...

Little Pikachu of Japan...

on the hand of the youngest son of a friend of mine
danced in and out of the labyrinth
as even the adults...

found a time for play
and levity...
in between the silence
and the time out of time...

to touch the heart
of self and each other
and those around the world
in loss and sorrow
and in the joy of our day together...

Another
surprise of the day
was harpist Christine Tulis
joining us
with music divine
and the poetry of Rumi...

 It was a feast
for body, mind, and soul...

And when
the day was complete...
this infused water
from the copper Dragon Singing Bowl...



went back to the earth
with our love and prayers
for Japan
and for our precious world...

Broken Pickets

What do you do…
when someone kicks in your fence???
Do you replace the pickets immediately
so that no one knows how vulnerable you really are???
Do you hire armed guards
to protect what is yours,
this postage stamp on the earth
so no oil spills,
nor killing of animals or humans,
born or unborn,
fighting war, after war, after war, after war
where no poisonous sounds like leaf blowers or pesticide,
nor gmo’s,
cross over into your space,
separate from everyone else’s???
Do you run surveillance cameras
so you can voyeur
into the lives of everyone who passes by???
And catch the culprit
making them a spectacle for all the world
to see on how not to act???
On how not to destroy
what is precious to someone else???
What do you do with us humans…
who never seem to learn…
who erase one person’s ease in the blink of a kick…



Glue,
Clamps,
Imagination,
Perseverance,
Faith,
Willingness,
Prayers,
Hope,
Compassion and
Owning the hatred
and Destruction that lives in the dark folds of your own heart…
There…
in the between place,
where the light
shines all the brighter in this dense darkness,
the world turns,
and from that splintered break,
I seek the ability to dance
with it all…

Prayers for our Water

Today,
Tuesday, May 18, 2010,
people around the earth
at 7:00 PM
will be joining the Thirteen Grandmothers
in praying for the our waters...
with extra focus on the Gulf...
Join them,
where ever you are...
Touch water
and give thanks for this beautiful
life giving liquid that is so vital
to the cells of our being
and well-being of our planet...

The Thirteen Grandmothers
There will be another global focus on water
on June 5th, World Environment Day

Rainbows...

I painted rainbows
all day today...
read them,
remembered them,
saw them everywhere I looked,
despite the gray day
filled with rain
making you think it was the dead of Winter...
Then walking home...
I saw this rainbow of sorts
along the way,
our neighbor's yard
filled with lupine leaves
catching diamond
crystals
singing to the symphony
of flower
gems
so sweet
I could
not resist snapping their picture
with my antiquated
cell phone....
Where I have to type
each letter slowly
like a typewriter of years gone by,
reminding me of a time
when things were slow...
and you had the time
to see rainbows
in unexpected
places...

Stepping Backwards

Yep...
This is me
stepping backwards
over one of the amazing redstone cliffs
that surround St. George, Utah...



I met many incredible people
during my week at Green Valley Spa,
but there was a special heart recognition
with three beautiful women from Minnesota...



Lindsay, Lisa, & Amy
plunged, zipped, and climbed with me
through the external and internal
landscapes that we explored,
together and individually,
during our time together...

finding the freedom to dance with the rock
in a whole new way...

 





I loved the repelling!!!!

Lindsay and Amy
were like Spiderwomen when it came
to rock climbing...








I on the other hand/rope...
failed miserably...
well... maybe I exaggerate
as you can see here...

 
it sure felt miserable!!!

and I did make two out of the four climbs...
with the last climb non-negotiable
as that was the only way out of the canyon!!!

for in those failures...
I found my strength to let go
and say that I had accomplished more
than I ever dreamed possible...

However...
if you ever see this particular
smile on my face???


It is a lie!
What I am really thinking and saying here
can not be printed!!!!

But this smile
is genuine
and from the depths of my being...



with such appreciation
for finding the ability to step backwards
into the challenges of life
with three such beautiful friends...
